Bedroom Series - Photography

Three Stages of Misery

This is my bedroom series.
This short series represents the different stages of my misery during the pandemic.

The first image shows the individual (me) laying under a pile of pillows and blankets. This represents the bigging on the pandemic. When summer rolled around all I wanted to do was go outside and explore, but the pandemic forced me to stay indoors. The blankets and pillows I chose all promote outdoor adventures symbolizing my want to go outside and misery at home. (Below are the blankets and pillows used in the staging of this image).

The second image represents my time in online school. Since school was online I spent most of my time at home, in bed, and on my computer. I covered the subject in textbooks, notebooks, pens and paper so that most of the body of the individual was covered. Only her hands and feet are visible symbolizing the overwhelming suffocation of being stuck at home.

The final image is not as close up as the first two. In this image the subject is covered in dirty laundry and unwashed sheets while only her hands are visible. The lighting is lower representing the misery in the photo. This photo is taken from a different angle than the rest. This images is taken from further away so that the entire bedframe is shown in the image. This is to symbolize the feeling of being stuck in bed with no control over what is happening to myself and my sanity. This moment represents the most difficult time during the pandemic as individuals had been stuck in their homes for months with no end in sight. The pandemic was getting worse and more people were getting sick. During this time I had also caught the virus and was stuck in bed for what felt like forever. The dirty laundry represents the pure misery I felt as I didn't have the strength to perform the most simple tasks such as getting myself out of bed to clean my laundry. This image is my rock bottom during the pandemic.

These three above images are the quick sketches I made for each photo.
Blow are the blankets and pillows used in image 1.
