Ignorance is Bliss

This piece was done in the fall of 2022, surrounding the theme of ignorance is bliss.

I turned a vintage window into a box holding a framed artwork of hills and mountains. The idea is that this desirable image of landscape and clean living is separated from truth and reality, which is that planet earth is dying. The outside of the box is covered with headlines such as "devastating deforestation," "toxic waste spilled," and "chemical plant leaks."

The small picture frames on the inside walls of the box display the title "ignorance is bliss."

The window can open, symbolizing that the first step to saving the environment is acknowledging the problem by opening up to the clean living that should be prioritized.

The mountains and hills inside the gold frame are a representation of my ideal homeland compared to urban living.
